A weekend of firsts!

I will do my best to get a video of it, but this weekend Bailey rolled over for the first time!  I'm not talking about just on her side but all the way over to her belly. Way to go Ladybug!
(Funny picture!)
Additionally, we started her on rice cereal in her bottle.  However this was short lived.  After the two times she ate it she got extremely fussy and uncomfortable.  Needless to say we discontiuned the use of the cereal until later!

Our first July 4th!

We had a great weekend together, a nice relaxing one.  Sunday was the Fourth of July and we celebrated in style! The day started with a trip to church with the Damerons.  Bailey couldn't have been better during her first visit to church.  She slept for the first part but was woken up by a curious little cousin who wanted to play! :)  After church we accompanied the Damerons to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens for lunch and a little play.  This is such a beautiful place, you should check it out!  The older kids played in the water park while Bailey hung out with the adults.  Lane did put her feet in for a bit.  She had a mixed reaction to this.
It's hard to see her face...not sure if she liked it or not.  Either way, she had a cute little outfit on!
She was wearing an adorable red, white, and blue bow but we couldn't keep it in her hair.
That evening we went to the Dameron's for dinner. Becky and Justin decided to join us.  We really know how to have a good time!  Once the BBQ, potato salad, and corn was cleaned up we went outside for an awesome water fight!  I have to say the girls totally won!  Maybe next time Boys!  :)
Here are the Dameron boys and Lane sneaking up on Chris with a bucket of water!
Good Times!

"I think I can, I think I can..."

Over the last couple of days/weeks Bailey has been trying to grab her feet.  It's super cute!  I have tried to capture it with a picture but the real thing is so much better!
And last night Lane changed her diaper and she started to roll over on her side!  She got stuck on her side and couldn't figure out how to get back to her back.  I got very excited however that was shorted lived.  At 3:30 am the morning she woke up because she had rolled over and couldn't get back! She refused to go back to sleep! I ended up sleeping on her floor because I was tired of getting out of my bed to check on her. Here is a picture of her stuck on her side...hehe
It's the small things in life that make us happy! :)

Where we have been for the last month?!

Oh man!  This last month has been crazy! One good thing...it went by fast!  And now I'm on summer vacation and get to spend all day with Ladybug! I couldn't be happier.  Mommy Daycare officially started yesterday and I have to say it was the best day.  Here are some pictures from the last months activities.

First boat outing!

Back to Work...Gross!

Last Wednesdy we my first day back to school since having Bailey...it was torturous!  I don't think I've cried like I did Tuesday night and Wednesday morning since my Grandfather's funeral.  It was the hardest thing I've ever done!  Leaving my daughter to go and deal with other people's children was not on the top of my priority list.  One good thing is she was with her daddy...so she was in good hands. Lane really enjoyed "Daddy Day Care" for the rest of the week.  They had some father/daughter bonding!
I only have four weeks left of school.  It sounds like a short period of time, but it is probably the most stressful part of the year!  I can't tell you how much paperwork I have to complete and meetings I have to attend in these last 18 days.
Luckily for us we have amazing Grandmothers coming into town to babysit Punkin' Pants.  I know that Bailey will enjoy these next few days with both you them.  Then it's Krit's turn to watch our little Lady.  We can't wait to see the fabulous pictures Krit will take during duration of playing our nanny.  It's nice to be at work and not worry about who is watching her...Thank you all!

Two Months Old!

It's hard to believe our little Ladybug is 2 months old today!  Oh how times fly!
She had her two month check up this afternoon...notice her 5 bandaids on her thighs.  They gave her 5, yes 5, shots!!!  So, Ladybug, you can have that passy all night long to help you cope!  We learned Bailey is on her way to looking Daddy in the eye!  She is 2 feet long!  To me that sounds super long for a two month old.  She is also 13 pounds and 1 ounce.  Now I understand why she can't fit into most of her 0-3 months clothing!
Happy Birthday Punkin' Pants!

Our Heroes!

Becky and Justin ran in the Marine Corps Half Marathon yesterday.  This was their first ever race.  No need to do a 5k or a 10k, they decided to jump into the world of running full steam ahead.  They did great.  Mom and I woke up at 5:30 am to ensure we were there to cheer them on.  Sleep deprivation wasn't a concern, since I don't sleep but so much now...I still love you Bailey!  After frantically searching for Becky and Justin before the race, I was able to take this pre-race picture. (there were 7,000 runners so it wasn't an easy task)

After they took off we were off to maneuver around the city of Fredericksburg to catch them at different mile points.  We were able to see Becky at mile 4 but somehow missed Justin. However, we saw both around mile 8 .  And finally they crossed the finish line, both were running. They finished! Here is a post race shot.  Looking a little different than before...pooped!
Way to go Woodsides!

Swinging

Here is Bailey in her swing.  It has become one of her favorite places!  There is a mirror above her and she loves to laugh and stare at herself. I've taken tons of pictures trying to capture her smiling at herself, but of course I failed (I guess I need some help Krit!).

This is the closest I've gotten to capture her laughing and smiling!  I still think it's pretty darn cute!

Ummm...

MOM! My jacket is too big!!!

Mother's Day Weekend!

Oh my what a great first Mother's Day weekend we had! It was filled with lots of fun activities. Saturday, we went strawberry picking with Chris, Liza, and the kids. Bailey looked amazing in her strawberry outfit. We like to call her the "Strawberry Princess", very fitting! The weather was perfect. We couldn't have asked for anything better.

But more importantly we couldn't have asked Bailes to be any better!  She was happy and content the entire time we were at the Berry Farm.  We even put her in the actual strawberry field to take pictures and she loved it.  I honestly think we have the best baby ever.
After our first trip to pick strawberries we all came home and crashed.  It was lovely to have a few minutes to just relax as a family.  Saturday evening, we ordered Chinese and a movie (It's Complicated).  Good food with a mediocre movie.  But the company overrides the movie any day! :)  One of the best parts of Saturday for me was, Lane taking the night shift!  He woke up with Bailey around 3 am. He changed and feed her then put her back to bed. Even though I still woke up, it was nice to relax while he did all the work.  That was a good Mother's Day gift!
Sunday morning we didn't leave the bed until 11.  Obviously we were awake but we stayed in our PJs for most of the morning.  Well I guess I'm lying a little bit...I left the bed and made breakfast for us.  Yes, on Mother's Day I made breakfast and took it to Lane in bed!!!  Sounds backwards, well it is...but I didn't mind.  He made up for it with the gifts he gave me.  A pair of Yurman earrings and a Yurman necklace.  The necklace has our (meaning Bailey and myself) birthstone in the pendant.  It's absolutely beautiful.  I look classy!
After finally peeling our bodies out of bed we went to Stoney Point mall to walk around.  It was so nice outside I couldn't stand staying inside any longer.  We concluded that this mall isn't that great.  The one good thing about the mall is you are able to take your pets but thats about it!!
Since we had a lack luster trip to the mall we ventured out to Goochland to visit the Damerons.  We ended up staying over there for dinner.  So thank you Liza for fixing my mother's day dinner.  Well I guess Lane should be thanking you too...You got him out of cooking for me!
Overall, it was a fabulous weekend.  I think that being a mommy is the best job in the world and should be celebrated everyday! :)

Counting Some Sheep

Finally, we are getting some sleep! Last night Bailes slept for almost 6 hours.  Holy Cow!  The last couple nights she has done a great job grabbing some zzzzz's.  So if she is sleeping that means so are mommy and daddy.  WAHOO!  Other mothers have told me they would wake up when their baby finally sleeps through the night to check on their sleeping baby.  I guess I'm the exception! I didn't move until 4 am when Bailes let me know she was wet and hungry.   It was heavenly! Over three hours of straight sleep is absolutely priceless.  So Bailes, Mommy and Daddy thank you very much for understanding that when it is dark you sleep!  :)  Love you Ladybug!

Party Outfit

Here is a picture of us from this weekend.  As a family we went to Fredericksburg for Uncle Shane and Angela's birthday party.  I have to say Bailey was a hit at the party.  Probably because she looked awesome in her party outfit!  Isn't she adorable?

Like Mother, like daughter!

Ever since Bailey has been born people have tried to determine who she actually looks like. I have said from day one that you she looks like her momma. This is evidence, Point proven!

Finally

Thank you to Krity for finally capturing this adorable face!

2nd Doctors Appointment

Today we went to see the doctor for the second time since Pumkin Pants was born.  We were very excited to see how big she has gotten.  Well...she now weighs 10 pounds and 14 ounces and is 22 1/4 inches long.  HOLY COW GIRLFRIEND!   Ten pounds! I definitely thought she was going to be around 9 and a half but not almost 11 pounds.  Needless to say we were flabbergasted.  Our little lady is growing up so fast.  And she also got her first shot today and didn't even cry.  Already a trooper.  You can see her cute little yellow band-aid on her thigh...poor thang!
Oh and a side note she farted on the nurse...it was quite funny! Everyone laughed including Bailey! :)

Beach Trip

This past weekend our family made our first trip to the Janney beach house in Duck, NC.  The normal gang went...Keg, Krity, Jill, Phil, and Jared. (Mac and Britta came later)  It was a blast!  Bailey was awesome, yet again. Overall the weather was cold, not allowing us to visit the beach.  However, Bailey and the girls were able to lay in the sun on the deck for a bit.  Here is a picture of her in her swimsuit that her Momo gave her!
Isn't she cute?!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was our first (of many) family trip(s) to Steamboat Lane...Memaw and Granddaddy's river house.  Even though it was chilly, it was nice to be somewhere besides our house.  This picture is taken from the deck and behind us is the Great Wicomico River.  I hope next time we go down there we will be able to get on the boat!

While at the river, Bailey's belly button fell off! YAY!! Now we don't have to fold down the diapers and sponge bathe her!  But the question now is...inney or outie?

Bailey absolutely loves riding in the car!  She slept both to and from the river.  It was a nice treat for mommy and daddy! Let's hope she loves the car ride this coming weekend for our trip to the beach.

Happy Easter

Yesterday was Bailey's first holiday. Our family of 4 had a great day! Memaw, Granddaddy, Becky and Justin came to visit and bought an awesome Easter dinner. Justin even made his delicious cheesecake! Here is picture of Bailey in her first of two Easter outfits. However after laying with Justin for a while, they both were in need of a wardrobe change...if you know what I mean! :)
Here is Bailey's second Easter outfit! We had planned to take a picture of her in the basket Memaw and Granddaddy gave her however her legs were too long! Therefore she had to be sat next to it!
We can't wait for next Easter! I see an awesome Easter Egg Hunt in our future!

First Party!

Today, Nolan Anthony turned one. Hard to believe he is already a year old. Miss Bailey had a great time at his party, she slept the entire 3 hours! Even though she was asleep, she looked beautiful! She had a cute party dress on! Here is a picture to document her cuteness.
Nolan, Bailey was trying to make a good first impression with you!

First Doctor's Appointment

Today we went to the see the pediatrican for the first time. It was also Bailey debut to the outside world. She was perfect! The doctor said she was doing great. She was four ounces above her birth weight. When she was born she weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and then when we left the hospital she was 7 lbs and 7 ounces. But now she was 7 lbs and 15 ounces! Wahoo! Overall, she got a clean bill of health. We were proud parents!

First Bath

The picture says it all...she hated bath time! I'm sure it didn't help that mommy and daddy were very quick.
Keep me warm!!!

Poor Louie didn't know what was going on. He sat outside the bathroom the entire time. He was concerned about his sister. Don't worry buddy, we won't hurt her!

Delivery

We have had a busy week since our last post of nursery pictures. Well here it all goes. Long story and you will get all the details...well maybe not all the details but the most important ones.
I was 39 weeks pregnant last week. However, I thought Bailey would be late, but obviously I was wrong. Tuesday I was scheduled to visit my awesome Doctor (Leigh Lewis). Around 9 am I received a phone call from her office saying we needed to reschedule my appointment because she had to deliver a baby that afternoon. Much to my disappointment, I rescheduled for Wednesday after school. Well around 10:30 am, during my class' small reading group, I thought my water broke. So during lunch I called the doctor again to see if they would be able to see me today! I was able to get in but with a nurse practitioner. I've seen her before, and she's wonderful, but she wasn't my doctor. So she ran some tests and concluded that it wasn't my water. Great! I felt so stupid for thinking it was my water. So back home we went.
In a way I was excited it wasn't my water, I had an appointment to get my toes done and my eyebrows waxed at 6. Well without knowing, my water broke before I left the house to go to the salon. I didn't think it was my water because a few hours earlier the tests came back negative. So I went to the salon and got all beautiful! :) Then I headed to the grocery store to pick up a few things. (good thing I did!) After all this running around I came home and went to sleep. Around 3 am I started to feel contractions. They were very random and weak. So of course I didn't think anything of it! Around 5 am they got a little stronger so I went downstairs, trying not to wake up Lane. About an hour later I decided to call the doctor, finally a good decision! She wanted us to come in right away. I showered, ate breakfast, then woke up Lane for what I thought was going to be a wasted trip to the hospital.

Once at the hospital, I was checked by the nurse (Ginny). And what you know, my water had broken! At that time, I looked like we were going to have a baby sometime today. Dr. Lewis came down to check me and I was only 1.5 centimeters. This was the exact same as week 38's doctors appointment. Since I had not made any progress and my water had technically broken at 6 pm the night before, she had some concerns. They started me on antibiotics as well as pitocin (a drug to speed up labor). This all happened around 8 am. I labored naturally for about 4 hours. This was very uncomfortable to say the least! I tried the birthing ball, a rocking chair, and the hospital bed, but nothing was comfortable. Around noon I wasn't getting any relief from the contractions. They were recording off the contraction chart and back to back. I decided to go ahead and get an epidural. I really wanted to try natural birth, but looking back now...what was I thinking!
I was 5 centimeters and fully afaced...making some progress! The anesthesiologist came in to shoot my back with some heavenly drugs. I believe I told him several times he was my best friend! Getting the epidural was not painful at all. Lane watched the whole thing and he got a little nauseated. It was more to it than he thought. All I know is I'm so glad I got it!
No more than 5 minutes after getting the epidural, there suddenly was 7 nurses and Dr. Lewis in the room with me. I was still laying on my side from the medicine. One nurse put the oxygen mask on my face, another gave me a shot in my arm, and the others were rushing around the room with a purpose. Finally I took the mask off my face and asked what was going on. Basically I was told that Bailey didn't like the epidural. Things had been progressing so fast then I got the drugs and my body relaxed, she didn't react well to that. They were unable to find her heartbeat! SCARY, to say the least. Once everything calmed down and both Bailey and I were doing fine, labor got easy! I was a chatty Kathy, Mom and Lane were in the room and all I did was talk for about 3 hours straight.

After Dr. Lewis saw all her patients for the day she came back down to check on me. This was around 5:30pm. I hadn't made much progress, only one centimeter in 3 hours. (after the scare they took me off the pitocin) She told me she was very concerned with my lack of change and that my water had broken for 24 hours now. So she said if I hadn't delivered by 8, they would have to do a C-section...not something I wanted. They put me back on the pitocin, trying to help things along. Well it worked and worked good and fast! The nurse checked me at 6:10 and I was ready to push! Awesome all the drugs worked!!! This was the good news, the bad news was that Dr. Lewis wasn't going to be able to deliver me. However, Dr. Reinhardt was on call and he was fabulous.

I pushed for about 50-60 minutes. The best thing about this was I couldn't feel a lick of pain just pressure. I remember during the marathon around mile 23, saying I only have 3 miles left...YOU CAN DO IT! As cheesy as that sounds that is what I kept telling myself. The end was in sight and I knew that if I worked hard now that soon I would have a beautiful daughter. And by golly did I ever get blessed with a beautiful baby girl! Once she was out, Lane cut the cord, I'm very surprised he did. And Bailey cried like a champion!

Words can't describe the feeling I had to see her for the first time. I will never ever forget it! It's an absolute miracle!

My bags are packed, I'm ready to go!

Check it off the list: our hospital bag is packed and in the car! We are ready...well ready to go to the hospital. But ready or not here she comes. The doctor said she could come at any time. Let's see if she listens to her mother and stay inside for about 2 more weeks. It would be nice to deliver as close to Spring Break as possible! This would allow me to stay at home for six weeks after break, meaning I would only have to go back to school for a short period of time!!!!! However, I have no say about when she comes.
On the list for this weekend=car cleaning and putting in the car seat.

When?

37 weeks! I can't believe we have less than three weeks until our little lady will be joining our lives. But the real question is when? When will she decide to come into this world? Will she be two days early and share a birthday with me? Or late and be an Easter baby? It's tough not knowing the answer! One good thing, the house and room is pretty much ready for her. However, Lane and I have a lot more to do to get ourselves ready. We still need to pack our hospital bags and put the car seat in the car. Ok so that's only two things but they are big ones! Hopefully we will do those two things soon, like this weekend. Oh and we need to pick out an outfit for Bailey to come home in...that's huge! :)
Hopefully on Tuesday after my doctor's appointment we will have a better idea of when?!

IT'S A CELEBRATION....

My 3 best friends! Jared, Phil and Keg

OK, so Amy and I have been "trippen" when it comes to posting blog updates. So here is a bunch of pictures from our "couples shower".
My two sister in laws know how to throw a great party, I mean baby shower.... Amy and I hosted the event at our new house, Becky and Liza did EVERYTHING else. It was truly a blast! The food was a hit and the decor was amazing. I cannot thank you both enough for your time and efforts.
On a side note, we started the weekend off by convincing Liza Kate(AKA L Kizzle) to fly down to Richmond from Boston in order to surprise Amy Friday night before the party. It was priceless to see Amy’s face when she walked through the door, totally surprised. We are always excited to see her and wish we could see her more often. She has always been an amazing friend and no matter where she moves we will always consider her part of our village. Friday night, I think Amy and her stayed up until 1:30am just talking about life and catching up.
Then it was the party time. IT’S A CELEBRATION…. You know it is a good baby shower party when you go to buy 3 cases of beverages and mid way through I have to run out and get 4 more. Even though we are getting older we have not lost out desire to throw down. During the party all of our closest friends and family joined us in celebration of Bailey. We were also able to catch up with friends that we have not seen in a long time. Thank everyone for taking the time and make the trip to our humble abode.
I think we should have a baby shower every weekend.
